DC Here We Come! 2024 Annual Disabilities Policy Seminar- April 8-10 Hill Day!

April 10, 2024

The Disability Policy Seminar’s Hill Day is an exciting opportunity to engage with your legislators and to speak directly with your state’s Congressional delegation about the high-priority issues affecting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Critical programs like Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act, home and community-based services, housing, Supplemental Security Income, and Social Security are constantly threatened—yet these federal programs provide the key to community living and inclusion for people with IDD across the nation. These programs must be supported and expanded.

Through visits with Congressional leaders, participants can help ensure that critical programs and the civil rights of all people with IDD are protected.

The Disability Policy Seminar is an annual federal legislative conference co-sponsored by leading disability advocate organizations.

This includes The Arc, Autism Society, American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Association of University Centers on Disabilities, National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities, United Cerebral Palsy, Self Advocates Becoming Empowered, and TASH (the partners).
The Disability Policy Seminar strengthens our federal advocacy efforts by providing training, learning opportunities, and updates, as well as opportunities to visit members of Congress.

Emmie and I will be in attendance and look forward to gaining valuable education and training so we can further our vision and provide quality services in our own community.

The seminar brings together passionate advocates like our organization, including people with disabilities, experts, and professionals in the field, to learn about key issues to advance the lives of people with IDD.
Emmie and I look forward to representing our imitative for affordable housing on Capitol Hill and speaking directly to members of Congress about the high-priority issues that affect people with disabilities, their families, and supporters.

Stay tuned for more exciting updates as we continue to unveil our platform. We are excited to share this journey with you.
